Good Faith Estimate
Notice to clients and prospective clients:
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, healthcare providers must give clients who don’t have insurance or are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. Note: The PHSA and the GFE do not apply to clients using insurance benefits, including Out of Network Benefits.
Clients have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
Clients can ask their health care provider, and any other provider they choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling a service or at any time during treatment.
If a client receives a bill at least $400 more than their Good Faith Estimate, they can dispute the bill. Note: Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
